James J. O'Connell

Jim has been associated with the Firm since his admission to the New York State Bar in February 1986. He has focused his legal practice on assisting public school districts in general legal matters as well as specialized services, including municipal finance and defense of assessments in tax grievances.
Jim provides estate planning services (wills, powers of attorney, health care proxies, the establishment of revocable or irrevocable trusts, and guardianships) and estate administration legal services for clients responsible for settling estates. He also provides other legal services, including representing Buyers or Sellers of homes.
Prior to his career as an attorney, Jim was a diocesan priest and educator, serving as Principal of 600-studen Rome Catholic High School (1967-71) and as founding pastor of Pope John XXIII Parish in Liverpool (1971-84).
Jim enjoys interacting with clients and others in providing legal services which are of benefit to them.  He resides with his wife Sharon and twin sons, Jim and Dan, in Skaneateles.  Among the legal community, Jim is respected for his integrity, wisdom and wit.
